On the western side of Beratan Lake in Bedugul, the center of Bali, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a famous landmark and a large religious building. The entire Bedugul region is a popular vacation spot for residents of the southern cities of the country. The beauty of Ulun Danu Beratan, which means “temple of the spring at Lake Beratan,” is similar to the Balinese seaside resorts of Uluwatu and Tanah Lot. The reflective surface water of the lake gives the appearance of floating much of the base of the temple. The rugged Bedugul mountain range that surrounds the lake adds to the temple’s scenic beauty.
